R. A. Miller Works on Wood
All works acquired between 1990-1996 directly from the RA in Rabbittown, Georgia, Old Cornelia Highway, near Gainesville. In the autumn and winter seasons I baked cornbread for RA and his wife for breakfast and arrived early in the morning sometimes before they were up and about. Cornbread is delicious on chilly mornings and they really appreciated my thoughtfulness. I have 35mm chromes and about two hours of video of RA working, talking, preaching, and life in Rabbittown. His work is in museums such as Outside the Mainstream, Folk Art in Our Time, 1988, High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Ga.; the Museum of American Folk Art in New York; galleries, and in Folk Art Park at the corner of Ralph McGill Blvd NE. and Courtland Street NE in downtown Atlanta established during the 1996 Olympics.
Some works were signed in black marker and others were signed with gold metallic marker (that I brought along each time I visited —my “trademark” style of customization).
Most have the typical RA signature motto: “Lord Love You”.
